Crashd�et is a hard rock band from Stockholm, Sweden. They are a part of the sleaze metal subgenre of glam metal. The band was originally formed in 2000 by taking influence from Guns N' Roses, M�tley Cr�e, Skid Row, and Hanoi Rocks. "Rest in Sleaze" is the debut album of the band released in 2005.

Master reedman John Surman and organist Howard Moody in the rich acoustics of Ullern Church in Oslo with a repertoire that includes original compositions, improvisations, traditional folk songs and spirituals.
Howard Moody and Surman first collaborated on ?Proverbs and Songs? in 1996, where Moody was the conductor, subsequently also taking over the role of organist. John Surman: ?I really enjoyed Howard's approach to the improvised sections and we decided that we would try and do some more playing together in the future. I continued working with Howard when he invited me to compose some pieces for the Sarum Orchestra ? of which he is conductor and musical director. Eventually, after some exciting 'workshopping' sessions in Penshurst church in Kent, we were ready to record together.?

This is music of rare sensitivity. Fifteen tracks, each one a miniature fashioned with extraordinary care and joy, shared with organist Howard Moody. Far from being a junior partner here, Moody provides the deeper, darker hues that make these pictures so compelling. ? This is one of Surman?s most atmospheric albums, which given his output to date makes for the highest recommendation.

Ry Cooder's I, Flathead is the culmination of his ambitious and fascinating "California Trilogy," the last of three albums in which the singer and guitarist journeys through the real and imagined history of mid-20th century, multi-ethnic California, sampling the sounds of its barrios and byways, its nightclubs and honkytonks. The CD functions beautifully on its own, but also serves as a sort of soundtrack to the book equivalent. Abetting Cooder in his story telling is a veritable repertory of players who've appeared in the previous discs in the trilogy, among them drummer Joachim Cooder, Jim Keltner, Flaco Jimenez, Jon Hassell, Juliette Commagere and Gil Bernal.

Need for Speed: Underground (NFSU) is a racing game, developed and published by Electronic Arts in 2003. It is part of the Need for Speed computer and video game series. It was developed by EA Black Box. Its premise (highly tuned, customised cars participating in illegal street races) was likely inspired by the Import Scene and the movies The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious.

A complete reimagining of the series' formula, NFSU offered a career mode featuring a storyline, and a garage mode that allowed players to fully customize their cars with a large variety of brand-name performance and visual upgrades. All races take place in a city at night. The city appears to be in a somewhat New York City style type city. Instead of hundred-thousand dollar exotics, Underground featured vehicles associated with the Import Scene. This, plus the increasingly arcade-like controls, became points of controversy for Need for Speed fans. Despite this, Underground was commercially very successful, and inspired a sequel.

It is rumoured that the car manufacturers were very strict in how their vehicles were to be portrayed in this game, especially considering the "illegal street racing" reputation of the tuner culture. EA took some effort in making the races appear as sanctioned racing events, and included a public service announcement in the game's introduction. In addition, vehicles do not have damage models.

Plot

The player is in a modified Acura Integra Type R racing three other modified cars. After winning the racer, Samantha tells the player about Eddie, who is the best racer around the city with his Skyline . At this monment the player has to choose one of six tuner cars. After choosing a car the player sees Melissa,who is standing right beside Eddie. Samantha explains the simple rules of the Underground, 'You win races, you get cool parts. You lose, and you're out'. After winning a few races, the player gets introduced to TJ who tells him if he beats a time trial, he will give the player a reward.

Game Modes

Circuit

Circuit is a standard race that involves racing with up to four opponents cars around a loop track for two laps or more, and is the main mode of the game.

Knockout Mode

A variant of Circuit, Knockout Mode is similar to previous Need for Speed titles, involves "knocking out" the last racer who passes the starting line in each lap until the final leader of the race remains, and wins the race. In the case of Underground, Knockout sessions have a maximum of three laps for four racers.

Sprint Mode

Sprint mode is a variation on the Circuit mode, where the contestants race in a point-to-point track instead of loop tracks. These races are typically shorter than "circuits" (with a maximum of 8 km in length), so players are required to be more cautious of any mistakes during racing.

Drift

Drifting is one of the most challenging and technical aspects of the game. Drift mode consists of one player in a short loop track, where the objective is to collect as many points as possible by drifting along the track. The player competes with three other contestants, who appear to accumulate scores along with the player during the drift session. The player would be required to beat these scores in order to obtain top positions.

Bonuses are awarded for players who drift in the other borders of the track, drift vertically, or perform chained-drifting (continuous drifting by constantly steering the vehicle during drifts to maintain speed); if the player succeeds in ending a drift without collisions onto the sides of the track, the collected points are added into the score, otherwise, the collected points are cancelled.

Drift mode is the only type of racing where time taken to complete the track does not matter, since players are given the freedom to complete the allocated number laps at their own pace. This may explain the absence of nitrous oxide in this mode, since it serves no suitable purpose in this situation.

Drag

Drag racing is the second most technical form of race in the game. It involves racing against one or three cars on typically straight tracks, and attempting to obtain top positions to win. In order to master Drag mode, players must employ good timing and reflexes for gear shifting, redlining, overtaking, and the use of nitrous oxide boosts; the mode places particular emphasis in monitoring the tachometer during races, which is enlarged and situated on the leftmost portion of the screen. Steering in this mode is simplified to simply allow for lane changes, while the computer handles the steering along the lanes, and the player focuses more on maintaining an optimum speed for the car.

Two conditions will result to players being forfeited during a drag race: head-on collisions with a vehicle (traffic or opponent), barrier or divider>; or blown engines as a result from prolonged redlining and the subsequent overheating of the engine.

The Political Machine is a PC strategy game in which players run for President. Players can choose an existing candidate or can design their own from scratch, then choose a map/scenario to campaign in. From there, players must tackle the issues and battle against their ideological opponent for victory on election day.

Playing the game

Each scenario divides out the map into states (or provinces depending on the scenario). Each state is worth a certain number of electoral votes in which the player must win a majority of them on election day to win the game.

A player has two major political resources, capital and money. What they do with these two resources depends on the strategy employed. Each candidate has a number of traits that provide them with strengths and weaknesses such as charisma, stamina, integrity, intelligence, and position on the issues.

As the player travels the country, they can raise money, build campaign head quarters, do policy research, make speeches, take out advertisements, or hire political consultants with various abilities.

Meanwhile, your opponent will be doing the same thing. As the game progresses, the map will begin to turn either red or blue depending on who is winning (or purple of it's a tossup).

Spend too much time raising money and you won't have built up an effective grassroots movement. Spend too much time giving speeches or building political capital with local politicians and you won't have the money to take out advertisements, or conduct policy research that gives you access to better consultants and more effective campaign techniques.

The irony of the realism

The Political Machine is a PC game. It is designed to be fun. But underneath the covers it is one of the most advanced political simulations that exists. For example, in 2004, the The Political Machine 2004 edition accurately predicted the election in June. Stardock's Brad Wardell was asked live on CNBC in June 2004 how the game predicted the outcome. The game correctly predicted that Ohio -- not Florida -- would be the state to watch and whoever won that state would win the election. It also correctly predicted the winner of 48 of the 50 states.

Moreover, political junkies will appreciate many of the political consultants and strategies employed in the game such as the use of smear merchants, spin doctors, intimidators, cheer leaders, movie stars, etc. Strategy gamers will appreciate the balanced game mechanics which allows players to research new campaign tactics.

The Political Machine isn't just a fun game to play, it's a game that lets players see how the political process works in all its gory detail. Simple to play, difficult to master.

XYZ were an impressive hook-laden power metal band. They were considered the unofficial house band of the Los Angeles nightclub The Whiskey in the mid 80's, but major success eluded them.

XYZ began in Los Angeles, California, with members Terry Ilous (vocals), Bobby Pieper (guitar), Patt Fontaine (bass) and Joey Pafumi (drums). An early development deal with Atlantic records led to the recording of their debut album which quickly got shelved - and wouldn't see the light of day until Rainy Days was released in 2005. After that false start Ilous and Fontaine regrouped with new members Marc Diglio (guitar) and Paul Monroe (drums). Don Dokken produced the debut that included the killer single "Inside Out," but unfortunately few people seemed interested. The follow-up Hungry did even worse commercially then the debut.

I bought this cd long years ago and it has ever been one of my favorites.

Still trying to stay in tune with the Seventies, Cal Tjader joins forces with another refugee from another time, guitarist Charlie Byrd, for an album of contemporary Brazilian-flavored jazz. The alliance is forged mostly on Byrd's terms, with bossa nova, samba and percussive displays from Brazil's interior dominating the grooves. This time, after proving very adaptable to previous experiments, Tjader seems to be out in the cold in these settings, and he lays out a lot more often than usual on this album. Byrd rides along in his gentle, prickly-toned manner on acoustic and electric guitars, and the rhythm section shifts personnel and instruments from track to track. Yet oddly enough, this is still a musically rich feast. Electric pianist Mike Wolff's "Samba de Oneida" is a marvelously propulsive samba, and "Tereza My Love," one of Antonio Carlos Jobim's most attractive sleepers, is given a lovely rendition. The title track, written by Airto Moreira, is given an authentic, rambunctious Airto-style treatment, very much up-to-date, but Cal doesn't sound totally comfortable with the rhythm on vibes, spending most of his time on timbales. If one word could sum up this performance it would be "smooth." I have come late to the recordings of the Emerson String Quartet. This has to be among this very worthwhile group's best. The Art of the Fugue is, if not my favorite piece by Bach, then certainly high on the short-list. This is music fully realized--with an almost mystic greatness. Les Violins du Roy and the Delme Quartet (in Robert Simpson's arrangement) have both done great chamber versions of the work. This recording by the Emerson Quartet is well at ease in such lofty company. This recording lets the music speak for itself. It does so brilliantly. The crystal clear sound quality works hand in hand with the performance. Everything here is evenhanded and well judged. This is pulled off without any loss of the music's passion, fire, or insight. I cannot recommend this version of Bach's last great work highly enough. If you are considering getting a copy, do not hesitate.

?Led Zeppelin IV is the common, but unofficial name of the untitled fourth album of English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was released on November 8, 1971. It has no official title printed anywhere on the album, but is called Led Zeppelin IV after the band's previous three albums. Atlantic Records catalogues have used the names Four Symbols and The Fourth Album. Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page frequently refers to the album in interviews as Led Zeppelin IV, while singer Robert Plant thinks of it as "the fourth album, that's it". It is one of the best-selling albums in history, with over 23 million units sold in the United States, third most by any artist of all-time.
The album was initially recorded at Island Records's newly opened Basing Street Studios, London at the same time as Jethro Tull's Aqualung,before further recordings took place at Headley Grange, a remote Victorian house in East Hampshire, England, as well as Sunset Sound in Los Angeles, CA.
After the lukewarm, if not confused and sometimes dismissive, critical reaction Led Zeppelin III had received in the autumn of 1970, Jimmy Page decided that the next Led Zeppelin album would not have a title, but would instead feature four hand-drawn symbols on the inner sleeve and record label, each one chosen by the band member it represents. "We decided that on the fourth album, we would deliberately play down the group name, and there wouldn't be any information whatsoever on the outer jacket", Page explained. "Names, titles and things like that do not mean a thing."
Owing to the lack of an official title, Atlantic Records initially distributed graphics of the symbols in many sizes to the press for inclusion in charts and articles.
The album was one of the first to be produced without conventional identification, and this communicated an anti-commercial stance that was controversial at the time (especially among certain executives at Atlantic Records).
Led Zeppelin IV remains a perennial favorite on classic rock radio and features "Stairway to Heaven", one of the most famous and popular rock songs ever recorded.
In 1998, Q magazine readers voted Led Zeppelin IV the 26th greatest album of all time; in 2000 "Q" placed it at #26 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever. In 2003, the album was ranked number 66 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. It is #7 on Pitchfork Media's Top 100 Albums of the 1970s. A 2005 listener poll conducted by Toronto, Ontario classic rock station Q107 named Led Zeppelin IV the #2 best classic rock album of all time. In 2006, the album was rated #1 on Classic Rock magazine's 100 Greatest British Albums poll; that same year it was voted #1 in Guitar World 100 Greatest Albums readers' poll and was ranked #7 in ABC media's top ten albums.
The painting on the front of the album, showing an old man carrying a bundle of sticks, was allegedly purchased from a junk shop in Reading, Berkshire by a Led Zeppelin roadie (Jimmy Page has stated it was bought by Robert Plant) and affixed to the internal, papered wall of the partly demolished house for the photograph to be taken. 'The man with the sticks on his back' can also refer to the biblical Cain, who in legend was said to have ended his journeys on the moon, contributing to the image on the face of the moon. Film critic Robert Ring has also suggested that the picture might be a reference to the 1920s witchcraft documentary Haxan: Witchcraft through the Ages. In the film, there is a similar-looking witch, and inside the bundle of sticks are body parts from a thief hung on the gallows. This would be fitting, given Page's interest in hermetic studies. The house and surrounding area in the picture are by Butterfield Court in the Eve Hill area of Dudley.
The tower block on the back cover is of Butterfield Court in Dudley, England (not the now demolished Prince of Wales Court, as is sometimes incorrectly stated).
Butterfield Court can be seen, owing to it being 20-stories high and on top of a ridge, 25 miles away in rural Worcestershire and Shropshire and on a clear day, over 45 miles away in Wales. An image of the tower block can be seen here.
The inside of the album sleeve represents the tarot card of the Hermit it was painted by Barrington Coleby (the name is misspelled on the album sleeve), a friend of Jimmy Page's who lives in Switzerland.
The typeface for the lyrics to "Stairway to Heaven", printed on the inside sleeve of the album, was Page's contribution. He found it in an old arts and crafts magazine called "Studio Magazine" which started in the late 1800s. He thought the lettering interesting and arranged for someone to work up a whole alphabet. But the closer, "When the Levee Breaks," is the one song truly equal to "Stairway," helping give IV the feeling of an epic. An apocalyptic slice of urban blues, "When the Levee Breaks" is as forceful and frightening as Zeppelin ever got, and its seismic rhythms and layered dynamics illustrate why none of their imitators could ever equal them.
