As part of Mackenzie Health's two-site hospital model, Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital and Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital will work in tandem with Mackenzie Health’s community-based locations to provide increased access to state-of-the-art health care closer to home for the residents of southwest York Region and beyond.

Practices that participate in common service agreements may also require their host organizations to facilitate and manage VBP contracts. To support the negotiation and management of VBP contracts, the host would need: with their limited resources, small firms are having difficulty providing the capacity to provide care as a medical home. The inclusion and payment of new staff, the training of existing staff and the development of patient services entail costs that can jeopardize the financial viability of small practices. As with a real cohort, many of these costs would be lower or even zero because a cohort of firms would not have to acquire all the services. To be useful, the model must be adapted to local realities and current capabilities and priorities of practice. The actual cost of a shared services program depends on several factors, including the basic skills of the practice, the type of patient population served and the administrative costs of the host. The PHIP report quantifies and evaluates the concept that small firms – which are disadvantaged in terms of hosting and participating in BPVs – can better position themselves by coming together and working with a host organization to share the services and costs of these services. It also provides a framework for practices and potential hosts that can be used when considering launching such efforts. Under shared risk VBP agreements, supplier incentives are generally calculated after the end of the fiscal year.
